Mustang Money Energized is, for all practical purposes, the same game as the original Mustang Money. Same 94.38% RTP, same 100 adjustable paylines, same high volatility, same gold coin multiplier system during free spins. Ainsworth released it in 2023 with updated visuals — the flame effects are sharper, the animations are smoother, and the whole thing feels more at home on a modern screen.

The internal math model has been tweaked, which Ainsworth does when re-releasing older titles. What exactly changed is undisclosed. It could be bonus frequency, average bonus payout distribution, base game hit rate, or some combination. The published specifications are identical to the original.

If you've played the original and enjoyed it, Energized is the same experience with a fresh coat of paint. If you're choosing between the two and both are available at your casino, go with whichever loads. There's no meaningful gameplay difference that I or anyone else has been able to identify.

What "Energized" Actually Means

Ainsworth uses the "Energized" label across several of their titles. It's not a specific feature set or mechanic. It's a re-release designation that signals updated graphics and a revised math model. The visual changes are obvious — brighter colors, more detailed symbols, crisper animations. The math changes are invisible to players.

The original Mustang Money was designed in 2013 for land-based cabinets. By 2023 standards, it looked dated. The Energized version brings the presentation closer to what players expect from modern online slots, while keeping the gameplay structure that made the original popular.

Ainsworth did the same thing with Mustang Money 2, releasing Mustang Money 2 Energized with a slightly different RTP (94.09% vs 94.07%) and the same visual refresh. The pattern is consistent across their catalog.

Note: the max bet on Energized appears lower than the original's $10,000 at some casinos. This may be operator-configured rather than a game-level change. Check your specific casino's limits.

Should You Play Energized or the Original?

Play whichever is available. If both are at your casino, the Energized version looks better. The gameplay is functionally identical. Your money doesn't care which set of pixels is on screen.

If you're comparing across the entire series, both the original and Energized rank below Mustang Money Super on RTP (94.38% vs 94.75%). They rank above Mustang Money 2 and MM2 Energized on most metrics.

Where to Find It

Mustang Money Energized is available at BetMGM in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Michigan. It's also distributed through SOFTSWISS-powered casinos in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand. Availability is narrower than the original because not all operators update to newer versions of the same game.
